Challenge Wednesday!
So The Fall Into Fitness Challenge 09’s official WIs are Wednesdays. So this morning Taylor and I had our first Wednesday meeting.
Stupid Tangent!: I have now just named my scale. Unoriginally so, I must say. Taylor is the brand. But the Taylor I know in real life makes me smile, she is a symbol of comfort, and I could never be mad at Taylor, so I’m going with it!. End Tangent!
So this is what Taylor had to say for me:
229.8?
…..what? (don’t you love in movies/TV shows when they use the title in conversation?!)
(sorry for the video quality!)
On the one hand, the scale is going down: yay! On the other hand, why is it down so much in two days: eep. I know I didn’t eat a lot yesterday and I’m sure that contributed, but I didn’t think it would contribute that much. Yeesh.
Well, today will be better. I WILL go to the gym, and I don’t like going to the gym unless I’ve eaten something of substance.
Today will be better.
PS I'm gonna go ahead and keep my inches/measurements as they were before. I'm only gonna see what those are at the end of the Challenge to get maximum "wow!" results for myself!

The Foody Blues
Today certainly took an unexpected turn. I got a call this morning to do some temp work for the day as a last minute favor (um, and for money, OBVI) I guess. So I barely had time to shower and dress in a manner appropriate in which to face the general public – and pack an actual lunch? Forget it. For lunch I managed to snag some veggie crunchers and string cheese. Seriously. Based on the nature of the work I had literally no time to stop and get anything else, nor did I have the common sense and non-frazzled brain this morning to pack anything of substance. I really don’t do well with spontaneity. Breakfast was good, I even got in a snack before I left. Lunch was no bueno. I mean, it was tasty, but in terms of nutrition and not being starving by the time I got home, I’d give myself a big ol’ F. I redeemed myself with a damn good dinner though!
(And you’ll note, it’s Tuesday, and still I have yet to exert any energy re: physical exercise. This will make the rest of the week quite sweat-tastic, methinks.)
Breakfast:
*half a slice of homemade whole wheat bread (toasted with I Can't Believe spray)
*banana
*glass of milk
Snack:
*gala apple
Lunch/Snack:
*2/3 cup veggie crunchers
*string cheese
Dinner:
*glass of milk
*biiig stir fry
I used fresh veggies for this one. I sautéed onions and minced garlic in a little bit of sesame oil, added broccoli (fresh) and then some shredded carrots and then finally a couple of handfuls of baby spinach and let that all mix. Meanwhile I cooked a chicken breast (in chunks, boneless skinless of course!) with a little Pam. Then I put 1.5 tbsp of black bean sauce in the veggies, let that sit for a minute or two then added the cooked chicken into the mix! It was a huge batch and I had a little less than half.
‘Twas tasty.

Blogger help?
Can anyone tell me if/how I can create a separate page within this blog? I am thinking about moving my "meals" to a different page completely because, well, I think they kind of clutter up the rest of the blog. And I've been antsy to change the look of the blog, but I don't exactly have the money to pay for a visit from The Blog Fairy!
If anyone can help, can you email me? 100in12@gmail.com Thanks!

Food Girl Gone Bad
I’m Dumb, 100in12 Edition.
Okay, I made dumb mistakes in my earlier post! First of all, I realized in my goals I wrote going to the gym four times, and then separately doing the dvd and swimming – I meant to say exercising four times in the week - and kind of assuming that two of them would be the dvd and the swimming. But since it’s already written out there in the bloggernetscape, I’m gonna try and do it all!! I did the DVD and the swimming in one day last week, I can do it again! Plus the gym four times. So it’s gonna be a hell of a week! Yikes.
(Oh, but did I do anything today? NOPE. Wanna know why? My hair and makeup were done (for an interview I had this afternoon – fingers crossed!) and I didn’t want to undo all of it. I have to say, it’s a new excuse for me. But my hair really does look nice. I did my eye makeup with Almay’s Intense I-Color for green eyes (mine are a sometimes-hazely olive green) and it looked pretty darn good if I do say so myself.)
The other mistake was in the serving size of those meatballs I want to make – I read through the instructions for the serving size, the recipe makes TWELVE. Haha, so 40 won’t exactly work. But I think I can maybe squeeze out twenty instead. But I’m definitely still going to make them. They look so good and hearty.
Breakfast:
*gala apple (can you tell we bought a TRAY of them at Costco and now I must have at least one a day?! Geez!)
* ½ cup egg subst. scrambled with a sprinkling of garlic powder, 1 LCL wedge and topped with 2 tbsp salsa
*can of V8
Lunch:
*1/2 cup veggie crunchers
*meatloaf sandwich: 1.5 slices of meatloaf, ketchup, wrapped in a medium whole wheat tortilla.
Snack:
*Nature Valley Honey N Oats pack (2 bars)
Dinner:
*2/3 cup cottage cheese
*steamed broccoli + chicken + soy sauce (good but once again I used too much soy sauce. I must remember a little goes a long way!)

Life is a HighWeigh
Ha! Sometimes I crack myself up - this post title is one of those occasions.
And I'm happy to report, it's also not representative of this week's WI! I'm at:
232.4
So that brings me at an even 2 pound loss from last week! It's a good way to start the Challenge. I think I was eating more this past week (not badly, just more) so I am definitely pleased with the results!
Speaking of the Challenge, fellow contestants, has anything been decided about rules and what not? I read Kathryn's earlier post. (PS Chai, if you read this, I love the Fall Into Fitness: 8 Week Challenge. Heh :-)
There was some discussion as to whether to change the Challenge to % weight loss (TBL style) or stick to 20 lbs, but I haven't heard anything official - either weigh (HAR HAR) I'm happy with how I've started things off!
Okay, one more challenge thing and one other thing. We'll start with the Challenge thing. Kathryn suggested writing a post at the beginning of each week that states your goals for the week and how it fits in to the larger 8 week-goal picture.
I guess my goals for this week are to:
Keep on keepin' on.
Go to the gym 4 times this week.
Swim at least once.
Do that stupid 30 Day Shred at least once. (haha, I'm fake-mad at it because it made me sweat and work hard!)
These are my goals for the week. Also, at some point in the near future, I would really like to go hiking. Just spend a day walkin' up a mountain and pack some fruit and (low fat) cheese and (whole grain) bread and have a simple lunch with a beautiful view?! I love this stuff. Gotta find people to go with me and also do it before it gets too cold!
In the next few weeks, I'd also like to make these. According to the SP Recipe Calculator, if I make 40 per batch, they are only 43 calories per meatball (and I'll probably make a few changes like whole grain bread and egg substitute). I want.
Okay now on to the other thing:
I twitterytweetletwitted about it, but I realized last week's weigh in of 234.4 got me to a 10% weight loss! That's pretty cool, I think.

Hello Foodbye
Not much to say about today. I never changed out of my pajamas. I managed to not take a nap, which I consider to be the most impressive thing I accomplished all day. Ha!
In other news, I finally got some more peppermint tea in the house. It is my FAVORITE. I had a huge smile on my face just looking at the box. Peppermint is one of my most favorite flavors in anything, but aah, the tea is just...it's clean, christmas-y, wintry snow in a cup. I had a very "autumn" lunch today, but with this tea I'm already at Christmas.
Holiday season hooray!
Breakfast:
*1/2 cup cottage cheese
*Arnold’s Sandwich Thin with 2 tbsp 1/3 Less Fat cream cheese and 3 sliced strawberries on top
Snack:
*gala apple
Lunch:
*4 oz chicken breast (cooked in Pam and a mix of cayenne pepper, black pepper, a little paprika and cumin, garlic powder, and salt, spicy!)
*a mash/mix of: sweet potato, onion, gala apple.
I roughly chopped half an onion, a medium size sweet potato, and one gala apple. I sprinkled a little nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and pepper on them, and coated the mixture with 1 tbsp of olive oil. Baked it at 400 degrees for 30ish minutes, maybe a little less? I did it in 10 minute intervals and stirred the mixture each time.
I mashed the whole thing up just a little bit to really blend everything together. I ate half of the mixture for lunch. It was SO GOOD. And tasted like fall. And it was sweet, so eating it together with the spicy chicken was an excellent combo.
Snack:
*individual size sabra hummus with cucumber slices and broccoli florets
Dinner:
*the same thing as lunch. Heh!
