I just got home. So out and about from 5am to 9pm! WOO. Long day. But a good one, I'd say.

Champagne for My Meal Friends, Meal Pain for My Sham Friends

Breakfast:

(all mixed together)
*3/4 a cup steel cut oatmeal
*2/3 a cup raspberries
*sprinkling of wheat germ (maybe 1 tbsp?)

*2-3 tbsp slivered almonds

Lunch:

*2 tbsp light ranch mixed with 10 drops of hot sauce
*1/3 a cup chunk chicken

Dinner:

*quesadilla: 2 stringed string cheeses, sprinkling of chicken, a few dollops of hot sauce, two of the wheat/low carb wraps, sprayed the outside with a little I Can’t Believe Spray and put it in a skillet with Pam.
*1/2 a cup of salsa for dippage. (Jack’s Special Gourmet, we got it at Costco. SO GOOD)

I liked my meals today. There were some veggies and fruits, I took the time to make them, I didn't go too long without eating, broke the routine in terms of flavors, I think.

Once again, no exercise. I sort of feel guilty, but as long as I'm doing something right, then I don't feel too bad. And next week I don't have to work at all so I have fewer things to balance - I can pick it back up next week. Maybe this is my regrouping week. Going like gangbusters for 6 or 7 weeks is great, and taking a week (or maybe two, since I only worked out twice last week) to reexamine is fine by me.

Question: How do you spot the difference between a BS excuse and legitimate reasons for action/inaction?  Where do you draw the line between cutting yourself a deserved break and forcing yourself to keep going? I feel like I have that "coddle v. unrealistic expectations" battle in my head a lot, and it's hard for me to figure out what side I fall on sometimes.

PS: A little Memory Lane for you. This was last year, in July sometime. I was in London for an internship program, through grad school. I was somewhere between maybe 217 and 206? Something like that...I can't remember exactly.

Totally.

Awesome.

Also I remember liking the way I looked in this picture. I think I was kind of stretching out so I look slender, and it might be a good angle, but I just love this picture for my body - and for obvious HP Nerd reasons.

I feel like I'm hitting a wall. I didn't exercise today. I don't feel motivated anymore. I had to go to Target and a few places today for errands, and I was tempted to buy chocolate or other various crap, and I wanted to call friends and meet them for lunch for fast food or other indulgent foods. I didn't, but I wanted to. I want to.

With this work/temp stuff I've been doing, I've been feeling like I can't catch up with anything. I try to plan and prepare and do-ahead, but I still feel like I'm not keeping my head above water. I can't devote the time that I want to, that I have been for the past month, to my efforts. I know this is a big excuse. I guess I just need to figure out how to adjust and things aren't going to go smoothly.

Meal Madrid

(Get it!? Like the soccer team Real Madrid, but with an M, but not pronounced like meeel, but Mey-Aahhll. Okay, I know, it's a stretch. I'm not exactly JackSh*t with the creativity!)

Errrrrrrrrrr....what?

Breakfast:

*1.5 cups tuna (with the LCL wedge) and cottage cheese (um, I knew it was good for me with the protein and what not, but I could only eat about half – not that tasty)

Lunch:

*PB sandwich (on arnold’s thin)

Snack:

*Tall iced coffee (unsweetened, didn’t add a thing) from Starbucks

Dinner:

*Same as breakfast.

BOOORRRRINNNGGGGGGG

I didn’t really exercise today, but I did get out and walk for about 10-15 minutes at a brisk pace. The level of movement mirrored the caliber of my food today. Not in any way exciting or creative. Le sigh.

19 October 2009

Hey Food (I played more Beatles Rock Band tonight, why do you ask?)

Breakfast:

*steel cut oatmeal with about 10-15 raspberries, 1-2 tbsp of slivered almonds, 1 packet Splenda. All mixed together. Scrumptious.

Lunch:

*mix of baby carrots, sugar snap peas, and broccoli dipped in tzatziki sauce
*sandwich: arnold’s sandwich thin, tuna, lcl wedge, 4 bread & butter pickles, lettuce, mustard

Dinner:

*bowtie pasta with ragu and turkey sausage
*two pieces of texas toast garlic bread
*side salad with zucchini, red pepper, carrots, cucumber, avocado, and tzatziki sauce as dressing

Dessert:

*2x3 brownie

I had dinner at a friend’s place tonight, and they made it and I ate it! I brought the salad though. But boy was I the President, Founder, and CEO of the Clean Plate Club!

I don’t feel that guilty about the food that I ate, but actually more about the time when we ate it. I don’t think we ate until maybe 9? I usually eat dinner around 6 or 7. I like to think it’s better to give the food time to digest. I think I read somewhere you need like three hours for proper digestion before you go to bed? I dunno, don’t quote me on that.

I would like to take this time to point out that this will NOT be the turning point. This will NOT be the entry that I reread months from now, wondering what the hell happened, and pinpoint this post as the beginning of that slippery slope.

I will exercise more than twice this week.
I will make my own food for the rest of the week.
I will eat more fruits and vegetables!

(I know it’s only one meal, and it could have been worse, but that’s how it starts. You say to yourself “Take a break, it’s not a big deal” but then you end up saying it to yourself every night of the week. And 60 pounds later, you’re at square one. Not that I would know anything about that.)
